Cincinnati Milacron has reduced the number of parts in the RK Series by 42% while improving grinding performance. Pneumatics have been removed and most hydraulics have been replaced by smooth running electric drives. Complex computer programming has been replaced by simple state-of-the-art operator controls.
QUICK SETUP AND EASY OPERATION
One look at the RK’s standard operators station tells you a lot. Whether it’s the simplest thru feed, or our combined ONEfeed version, it is a small unit with relatively few controls. Easy to learn. Easy to set up. Easy to operate.
The heart of the system is a DMC (Dedicated Motion Controller). Its simple, direct controls give you the accuracy and consistency of servo control with the common sense operation of a manual machine.
Mechanical design of the RK Series helps keep set up easy. The grinding wheel position is fixed, rigidly mounted to the machine bed. An upper/lower slide arrangement, under the regulating wheel and work rest, swivel together with a single adjustment for quick, accurate adjustment of taper or wheel contact.
The thru feed control station provides an exceptionally simple interface for quick learning and easy operation.
PRECISION COMPONENTS
RK machines are built on an epoxy granite base, selected for its superior rigidity, vibration damping and thermal characteristics.
RK centerless slides combine anti-friction ways, brushless AC servo motors, precision ball screws and digital feed back. The results give you two-way compensation with 0.000004 (0.1 micron) resolution.
Standard RK truing units are a highly damped design. They provide electrically driven traverse and cam-type profiling.
FILMATIC grinding wheel spindle bearings with hydrostatic lift provide long lasting, hydrodynamic, self-centering support which is consistent under varying grinding loads. Rotational accuracy is 0.000004 (0.1 micron). The regulating wheel is rigidly supported at both ends by special hydrodynamic bearings.

With this in mind, Milacron’s centerless experts researched our extensive library of designs, service records, run-off test results and customer reports. Incorporating such features as hydrostatic spindle lift and S curve slide acceleration to maximize ball screw life, RK machines apply the latest technology in simple, durable, precision components.

If you have Cincinnati centerless machines, you will be able to use most of your existing work support tooling on the new RK Series machines.
