A CNC grinder rebuild is a process. It takes time, expert knowledge of grinders and grinding operations and a dedication to meeting customers’ needs.
The first step in the process is to realize a grinder rebuild is needed. The usual signs include:
Once you’ve decided that your CNC grinder needs refurbished, the next step is to find a partner that has the expertise to work with you throughout the entire process. At GCH Machinery, we don’t just take rebuild orders. We talk with the customer about their grinding cell and how it fits into their overall operation. We want to know what their greatest pain points are, as well as their operational wish list.
Better than Like-New
A good grinder rebuild can do more than just bring a machine back to like-new status – it also can help relieve production bottlenecks, improve part quality and boost productivity, among other benefits.
Once the rebuild is under way, we strip the CNC grinder down to bare metal, documenting each component. The base is methodically cleaned, sandblasted and repainted – not just for aesthetics but to help preserve it from future wear and tear.
We also review every part, component and assembly for issues, including the following systems:
Anything still in good shape gets carefully cleaned, hand-scraped (where appropriate), repainted (where needed) and set aside to be reinstalled. Anything found damaged or broken gets replaced. A side benefit is that the replacement parts often offer efficiencies, say when controls are replaced with updated models.
Processes that Meet Your Needs
When needed, we can move from rebuild territory to a full remanufacture by adding automation equipment or other upgrades.
After all the components have been cleaned or replaced, then we reassemble the CNC grinder into like-new – or even better-than-new – shape, which sounds like it would be the last step, but at GCH Machinery, it’s not.
Next, we invite the customer to our shop floor for product test runs to process the parts that will be ground once the machine is installed back at its original location. This testing protocol ensures that the part quality and specs laid out in our quoting document are met.
Once the CNC grinder has been approved for delivery, we make sure to provide complete documentation of the project, including:
Lastly, our support staff and field service technicians stand ready to provide the support you need when you need it.
GCH Machinery has extensive experience rebuilding a wide range of CNC machines, including centerless grinders, surface grinders, ID grinders, OD / cylindrical and Microcentric grinders and all major brands, such as:
